The project“ Violent Extremism vs Intercultural dialogue and Peace” achieved to build capacities of 27 youth workers, activists, young teachers, volunteers on building peaceful societies by having an active role on preventing violent extremism in 9 countries: from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Serbia, and Turkey.
The project had 2 main stages:
- International training in Durres, Albania
- Follow up activities in 9 countries
The international training course was held from 18 to 24 of February 2019 in Durres Albania. It was a very impactful activity to bring together participants from the region, talk about discrimination, reconciliation, regional collaboration, peace, by using and practicing non-formal education tools, etc.
Participants increased knowledge and developed skills on:
- Topics of violent extremism, radicalization, terrorism, hate speech
- Peace, regional collaboration, intercultural dialogue, and intercultural understanding
- What are counter-narratives and how to make counter-narratives, Participants produced 6 videos with messages and information about VA and Peace, 2 posters, 6 photo collages, and 11 photo messages.
- How to work with young people by using peace to combat violent extremism
- How to design a workshop and how to deliver it to young people at the local level
