The project aimed to contribute to a discussion about gender and gender equality among young people and to raise awareness of the topic through tangible action at SCI’s international and local activities in the Balkans by empowering youth-leaders during the International Study Session on Gender and Gender Equality and by providing them inspiration and tools for future actions.
The International Study Session on Gender and Gender Equality gathered 25 young activists from 11 countries that focused on developing a common understanding of the topic and mapping existing efforts within SCI to address gender issues. 12 NGO representatives and youth leaders came from the Balkans.
Intended Outcomes:
- Improved understanding of the topic of gender equality and related concepts and terms, specific context/situation in participating countries;
- Exchange of current practices of project partners, shared ideas on how to start valuable conversations with young people, volunteers, and society in general.
Intended Outputs:
- Assessment tools to enable project partners to reflect on their practices within their organisations and activities;
- Tool-kit to enable NGOs and youth leaders to carry on tangible actions relevant in their context. The toolkit will consist of: an introduction to the topic of gender and gender equality (including a short dictionary of main terms), educational tools and methods to be used when working with young people on the topic, ready-made 2 workshops and study sessions, recommendations on how to make activities a safe place for all.
