The project “Me, My selves and I” aimed to explore and work on inner prejudice young people and youth workers have to offer better active participation, increase qualitative youth work and be able to make changes in society. It was a pilot activity organized in Tirana, Albania from 18 to 22 of September 2019, with a participation of 22 young people with and without fewer opportunities across Albania, as well as direct beneficiaries from 8 peer to peer follow up workshops in Albania.
Project main activities were:
- National training for 22 young people from different backgrounds, especially from rural areas and people with fewer opportunities (social, ethnic, cultural, and economic obstacles). It was a very interesting training because of the diversity of participants, as well as the type of the topic. Through non-formal learning, participants felt such relaxed and emotional to talk about themselves, to explore their inner world, and discover and improve their skills for social change. Part of the national training was participation on the Peace Walk organized by PVN on 21 September, International Day of Peace with the participation of around 150 young people in Tirana. This was a unique experience for the group, to reflect on peace, discover peace, and practice it in very practical terms (This was an unexpected result in positive terms). However, a couple of hours about talking for peace and walking for peace, everyone’s peace was strongly shaken by a strong earthquake that happened in Tirana. This made the participants and everyone scared, lose the focus, and lost the attention of media or social networks about our activity. However, the next day it was a good reflection about peace, life, our role in society, trust in ourselves, and the importance to do good things in society and our smaller environment.
- 8 follow up peer to peer workshops organised by participants where benefited 159 young people in 8 areas of Albania, mostly fewer opportunities.
