May 30, 2024The “From Conflict to Collaboration: Building a Culture of Peace in Diverse Communities” training course gathered 28 participants from 10 different countries and many more nationalities from 2 to 9.04.2024 in Herentals, Belgium. The training is part of the Peace in Diversity project and is implemented by the International Secretariat of SCI thanks to the European Union’s co-funding.
We had the chance to meet people from different backgrounds with different lifestyles and ideas, which helped us better understand why peace is so important and necessary in our lives. We had the chance to better understand the concept of peace on three different levels: intrapersonal, interpersonal, and with nature.
The training team was so well prepared. Natalie, Gośka, and Alaa always made sure that everything was clearly stated, everyone was included, and we were encouraged to exchange ideas, inspirations, and resources. The entire learning process was based on efficient methods. We loved the games, puzzles, theatre, and videos that were shared during the training. It was a motivating environment, and we can say that for sure.
The training helped improve presentation skills, active listening, learning, and collaboration with people of different cultures.
We loved that, in many cases, the trainers used their real-life situations to help us understand that we’re not that different despite where we come from
.
To us, this was an excellent learning opportunity that will definitely impact our daily lives, our daily challenges, and the community we live in.
