👉 Media outlets play a role in shaping collective identities and intergroup attitudes and by stereotyping, a certain group distorts the picture of how audiences see different groups.
✅To better understand the role of media outlets in fueling stereotypes and divisions, participants explored through work groups and open discussions the freedom of expression, where media stands in combating discrimination and hate speech, and how owing to media portrayals some groups face more barriers than the rest. Moreover, participants discussed and learned about alternative ways to combat discrimination and fight for human rights such as art, rather often used nowadays to raise awareness on diverse matters.
🔺The last day was spent learning and practicing the participatory method of Theatre of the Oppressed, preparing online campaigns, and planning follow-up activities.
